Ruser Jewels was founded in 1947 by American jewelry designer William Ruser (1908-1994) and his wife Pauline. Following his years at Trabert & Hoeffer-Mauboussin and time serving in World War II, Ruser established his own firm. Ruser is renowned for his whimsical figural designs centered around baroque Mississippi pearls. Motifs include cherubs, birds, dogs, and flowers. His pieces were worn by many style icons of the 1950s and 1960s, including Joan Crawford, Shirley Temple, and Marlene Dietrich. Notably, his jewelry was featured in several Hollywood films, including the 1948 movie ‘Sorry, Wrong Number,’ ‘Sudden Fear,’ and ‘Career.’ In addition to jewelry, Ruser also offered accessories like lighters and compacts. After many years of success, Ruser retired in 1969 and sold his shop to Van Cleef & Arpels. Today, Ruser’s playful designs are highly collectible, found at estate jewelers and auction houses.
